چکیده

BackgroundThe incidence of total shoulder arthroplasty (TSA) continues to increase. Although researchers expect preoperative depression influence outcomes following primary hip and knee arthroplasty, there is a paucity data on this relationship after TSA. The purpose study was define the between diagnosis postoperative TSA.MethodsThis level III retrospective cohort study. We identified patients undergoing TSA 2009 2017 from Truven MarketScan database created 2 cohorts, with without depression. included who were continuously enrolled in for 1 year preoperatively postoperatively. collected demographic data, complication health care utilization factors then performed statistical analysis comparing cohorts. This controlled baseline patient demographic, comorbid, surgical factors.ResultsWe 22,623 Of these, 3209 (14%) had Multivariate demonstrated that more common depression: sepsis (odds ratio [OR], 2.04; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.14-3.65; P = .022), revision within (OR, 1.92; CI, 1.45-2.55; < .001), prosthetic joint infection 1.41; 1.04-1.90; .025), return operating room irrigation débridement 2.72; 1.67-4.42; 1.54; 1.26-1.88; wound 1.84; 1.2-2.79; .004). Preoperative patient expectations of total shoulder arthroplasty.

BACKGROUND Very little data exist regarding patients' preoperative expectations of the outcome of total shoulder arthroplasty. We hypothesized that younger patients and patients with worse function and worse general health would have greater expectations of total shoulder arthroplasty. METHODS Ninety-eight patients who underwent unilateral primary total shoulder arthroplasty at one institutio...

Humeral-sided Radiographic Changes Following Reverse Total Shoulder Arthroplasty

Background: We sought to characterize humeral-sided radiographic changes at a minimum of 2 years after reverseshoulder arthroplasty (RSA) to determine their association with specific implantation techniques. Methods: The immediate and most recent postoperative anteroposterior radiographs of 120 shoulders with primary RSAand a minimum of 2-years of radiographic follow-up were an...

Rehabilitation following total shoulder arthroplasty.

Total shoulder arthroplasty (TSA) is a standard operative treatment for a variety of disorders of the glenohumeral joint. Patients, who have continued shoulder pain and loss of function in the presence of advanced joint pathology, despite conservative management, are often managed by undergoing a TSA. The overall outcomes that are reported after surgical intervention are quite good and appear t...

What is a Successful Outcome Following Reverse Total Shoulder Arthroplasty?

BACKGROUND With variations in joint destruction, patient expectations and health status, it can be difficult to interpret outcomes following arthroplasty. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationships between different outcome indicators in 44 patients followed for two years after a reverse shoulder arthroplasty. METHODS Prospectively collected outcomes included the Constant-Mu...

Failure of Anatomic Total Shoulder Arthroplasty with Revision to Another Anatomic Total Shoulder Arthroplasty

Background: While outcomes of primary anatomic total shoulder arthroplasty (aTSA) are generally favorable, resultsafter revision procedures are less reliable. This study examines the functional outcomes, complications, and implantsurvival in patients who underwent revision of aTSA to aTSA.Methods: Patients who underwent revision aTSA were identified from 2008-2015. Demographic, clinical, surgic...
